Skin disease compensation claims

Lots of people whilst working come into contact regularly with irritants’ and chemicals that cause skin related damage. Irritant contact dermatitis or Allergic contact dermatitis are the two most common kinds of dermatitis occupational skin disease s in the UK.

You do not have to be working to have come into contact with chemicals you may have a claim if some one has been careless and allowed you to come to harm.

Once the risk has been identified, employers should prevent employees using such substances, by either substituting a less hazardous substance, or redesigning the job to eliminate chemicals altogether.  If the substance cannot be substituted, the work process should be redesigned to prevent hazardous exposure.  Additionally, employers should provide appropriate facilities for washing and drying close to work areas and ensure that aggressive cleaning materials are not themselves a factor. Many substances can penetrate ordinary creams and rubber gloves, which can then hold the substance against the skin, causing further harm.

All the above can leave you with a claim for compensation it is an employer’s job to keep his employees work place a safe environment. An employer has a duty of care to his employees if he fails to do this you may be in danger and you may be able to claim compensation. Your employer could be prosecuted.

Maybe your skin disorder is due to other conditions. Maybe it was due to someone’s negligence if so you could be able to win compensation. Did you get burns at a hairdresser due to the wrong mixture or was a perm or bleach or dye left on longer than it should be causing you pain and discomfort. Maybe you feel too embarrassed to claim compensation or the salon have told you that you are not entitled to claim against them.

Have you been to a beauty salon and been burnt with chemicals or hot wax. Did they check your sensitivity to chemicals prior to treatment? Were you treated by a junior or inexperienced employee did they have the proper supervision or training? was any damage to your skin deemed superficial and you were told it was just one of those things?

Nail salons have become a part of our high streets and many of us use them but it has been found that nail infections are not a pretty look maybe you have a claim against a nail bar for compensation.
